There’s a Place for You!
St John Vianney and St Monica are Catholic parish of the Diocese of Lancaster situated in the south eastern part of Blackpool, taking in much of Marton and Mereside. We are also joined in mission and Catholic life with our linked sister parish St Cuthbert’s, Lytham Road which takes in Blackpool’s South Shore.
As Catholics we are Christians in Communion with the Pope, the successor of St Peter, and fully committed to following the teachings of Christ & as contained in Scripture and the living Tradition of the Church, handed down to us from the Apostles. We seek to live out these teachings to commit ourselves to a life of prayer and charity and to share with others the Good News of God’s salvation. We come together as a parish to worship God, to receive His sacraments and to build up the community of God’s faithful people.
You are very welcome to join us here, whatever your age, background or personal situation. You don’t even need to be a Catholic to attend our Masses or services – just come along if you are interested. Just come with an openness in your heart.
When you arrive at the church for the first time, please introduce yourself to one of the priests and other parishioners. A good way of doing this is to come to the refreshments often available after the 9.00am and 11.00am Masses on Sundays. We’re a parish community full of imperfect, broken people who are coming to grow in love and knowledge of Jesus our Lord in His Church serving others together, and regardless of your story, we believe you can belong here!
If you’ve never been and you’re considering coming, here’s what you should expect…
- Welcoming people. We love it when someone comes to us for the first time. But, we don’t always recognize first-time visitors, so feel free to say, “This is my first time” and we’ll guide you in!
- A safe environment for children and young people. There’s a Children’s Liturgy for primary-aged. All those who direct interaction with children and young people must have a valid DBS.
- Practical teaching that connects the words of the Scriptures and the teaching of the Church to our everyday life.
- Plenty of opportunities to get involved. Everybody belongs here – we do everything for the name and fame of Jesus Christ!
If you have any specific questions, email us at email@example.com and we hope to meet you this Saturday night or on Sunday!
We do look forward to seeing you soon,
